American Legion Representative
Ron Gutzman’s goal as a Veterans Service Commissioner is “to have Happy, Healthy, and Secure Veterans” here in the State of Nevada. “Many of our troops return from their tour in the service with a variety of needs to be eliminated for them to properly integrate back into civilian life,” he says, citing medical care, education and training, and mental health care as examples. “Our job is to make sure the veteran knows where and how to get [the services needed to fill these needs]. If no services are available, then our job is to do our best to make them available.”
Mr. Gutzman is a 44-year resident of Nevada, originally hailing from Madison, South Dakota. He attended university at Dakota State College, University of New Mexico, and Northern Arizona University. He is a Marine Corps veteran and a former air traffic controller. In addition to serving on the Veterans Services Commission, he also sits on the National Executive Committee of the American Legion. Mr. Gutzman and his wife Beverly have two children, David and Kristina, and two granddaughters, Jazmin and Deelany.
